Brake Fluid Service near Virden, IL

Have you noticed that it’s been harder to bring your Chrysler, Dodge, or Jeep vehicle to a consistent halt? Then it may be time to have your brake fluid checked by our certified team of technicians at our Service Department. For more details, read this Freedom CDJR Virden overview!

Purpose

During your rides around Virden, you will inevitably come across a red light or stop sign. When this occurs, your innate reaction will typically be to press the brake pedal. A complex system of hydraulics then acts to deliver the force you apply to the brake pads directly to the rotors. The entire sequence brings the wheels to a halt. The liquid responsible for facilitating this function is known as brake fluid. It is often a combination of glycol ethers and various other components, which allow it to lubricate important parts and transfer kinetic energy. While it has been designed to last quite a while, it is still susceptible to various forms of wear. For instance, exposure to oxygen will cause it to crystallize, leading to reduced stopping force.

Brake Fluid Service

In most cases, we generally suggest having the brake fluid in your Ram, Chrysler, or Wagoneer vehicle replaced once every 30,000 miles, or two years. This interval can vary, so be sure to verify this information through your Owner’s Manual. When you schedule a service appointment at our location, you will be met with a team that is eager to assist you. They’ll begin by inspecting the entire braking system for bringing your vehicle to a halt. If the issue indeed lies with the brake fluid, the remaining supply will be drained, along with any air bubbles that may have accumulated over time. Afterward, it will be replaced with a fresh batch, allowing you to travel safely across Highway 4 once again. We’d like to mention that we utilize Mopar® parts, so you won’t have to worry about receiving poor components.

Warning Signs

When your brake fluid is no longer in condition for consistent trips to Otter Lakes Park, it won’t take long for you to notice. One of the most common warning signs is noticing that your vehicle has a sluggish stopping speed. Alongside this, your brake pedal may feel spongy when pressed on, hinting that the brake fluid can no longer transfer kinetic force effectively. Make sure to keep an eye on the Check Brake light, as it will illuminate when something has gone awry. If you have any more questions, feel free to utilize our Ask a Tech form to have them answered!

How Often Should You Have Your Vehicle's Brake Fluid Changed?

  • Your car's brake fluid should be exchanged once every 30,000 miles, or two years. Look to your Owner's Manual for more specific details.

I have been dealing with Freedom Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for over 30 years. After I purchased my first vehicle there, I've never purchased a vehicle anywhere else. I made my 2 most recent purchases in November 2018 & January 2019. The owners & staff are friendly & very Customer oriented. Their Service Department is second to none. Highly recommend.

From 1984 to 2005 I owned 6 Chrysler mini vans. Then an HHR and two pick-up trucks. I no longer need a truck for work and Chrysler has made many great improvements in the style and safety features in the mini van. A short test drive convinced me another mini van was the choice. No regrets. Many new features to experience. A lot of learning to experience.

I value the friendly family yet professional atmosphere that Freedom provided. I saw the car online, called to confirm it was still on the lot and for the stated price and picked it up the next day. Jeff was an absolute pleasure. No haggling and nothing was different when I arrived. Best car buying experience yet

I have purchased multiple vehicles from this dealership and each time I go back, they get better and better. Tim Logerquist kept my information and called me to let me know of an upcoming sale on the vehicle I wanted and saved me thousands of dollars. Everyone is friendly and sincere, much better than other Springfield area dealerships. If you’re in the market for a new or used vehicle in the Springfield Illinois area, take a drive down to see them first, you won’t be disappointed.
